The main objective of this program is to improve the health, safety and well-being of the patients by providing the hospital in underserved areas the opportunity to renovate medical equipment and hospital beds.
There is a desperate need to provide adequate medical equipment and hospital beds for public health services in the Andes region. We hope that our program of Humanitarian Aid will achieve to raise the standard of the quality of service for patients, and strengthen the assistance the hospitals offer.
According to recent statistics on Chilean public health services, there is an estimated thousands of missing beds to meet the demand of the patients in the hospitals. The number of days that a patient remains in a public hospital in comparison with a private clinic is very high. This is not a problem of medical attention but a problem with needs being met.
In the last few years, in collaboration with other international organizations, Help for the Andes Foundation donated containers of medical supplies and equipment in different communities of Chile, such as San Bernardo, Valparaiso, Rancagua and Punta Arenas.
We also helped coordinate professional medical assistance free of charge for the poor residents in poverty level areas in Chile and Peru, reaffirming that our organization has no limits in its efforts to support the underprivileged.
In the year 2008 the Foundation has donated and administrated the delivery and installation of 5 containers carrying medical equipment as well as electric hospital beds, to be provided for health service in the South of Chile as well as the Magellan’s area.
